I created a chassis design that is built for the body versus the other way around. I built a framework that allows the bottom of the chassis to be sealed on the bottom as well as to the sides of the body. The chassis has ground effects tunnels, rear diffuser, and front air dam splitter. The body used was an RAE Turbo Cam Pro Stock body that is very aerodynamic in itself, and was attached to the chassis via front, rear and side mounts. NO REAR SPOILER/WING was used in testing...that was the point, let the ground effects create down force versus the body (which creates drag). Other chassis design features include a duel plane chassis that has built in upper and lower A Arms which allow the kingpin to be retained without an axle, or clamp blocks, or other means. The chassis also has battery retaining brackets that can slide front and back on the top deck and easily tightens to hold the LiPo battery where you want it. The rear end of the chassis contains the diffuser framework as well as a wheelie bar system that allow multiple adjustments like angle, length, and movement. The car was tested at the Chicago Lynwood IMDRA National race in August and I am happy to say that it worked well, was stable without the use of a rear wing or spoiler, and stayed "sucked" to the ground even when it got out of the groove. The performance was great and within range of the record times. For a first time out I was very happy with the car and design and know it can be improved upon. Roy |

10-4-2012 - Greg Bentley and Tony Rudis are the class of the IMDRA Pro Stock field at the Worlds Finals in Chesapeake Virginia. Both drivers were running RAE 700 and 800 PS chassis. Both were under the current 1.49 E.T. national record during the weekend. Rain prevented the final showdown between both of these drivers as they advanced to the final round from a large field of PS cars. However, a new record was set by Bentley running a 1.449 E.T. at 93.3MPH in the second round backed up by an insane run of 1.416 E.T. at 98.8MPH in qualifying! Just think.... a Pro Stock 11 inch wheelbase car with a 540 size sensored brushless motor and a 2 cell 7.4 volt LiPo battery almost going 1.3 seconds and 100 MPH in 132 feet ! | |
6-10-2012 Tony Rudis wins Pro Stock title at the IMDRA National Race at Rockingham Dragway, North Carolina. Tony was running a RAE 700 Pro Stock chassis and RAE SoxMod Pro Mod body. 10-1-2011 - RAE V3 Prototype Dirt Oval Car - This unique chassis is based on input from RAE oval drivers Anderson, Klein and Stern the past two years. It is a dual plane style with adjustable flex points that allow the ability to tune the car by changing standoff location points. Also, multiple top deck plates with different designs allow changes to the chassis handling. Upper decks have built in single or dual fan mounts to keep the motor cooler. Direct drive unit places the motor to the left corner and the battery location can be easily moved side to side. The chassis currently uses Custom Works suspension parts which are easy to obtain. The initial tests have shown the car to be very stable, adjustable and quick on corner exit. |

1-5-2009 - RAE H6 Oval Conversion Kit Following the line of Hugger Dirt Oval kits that began in 1993, R.A.E. has designed the latest version....the H6. The conversion kit is based on the Associated B3 transmission and rear suspension. The chassis features a new footprint and weight distribution along with new suspension geometry, and it is made from 3mm carbon fiber weave / graphite material. The front bulkheads, suspension mounts, transmission mount, rear cradle, and front a arms are all machined from 6061 aluminum and then anodized. " The car is very smooth into and through the corners and stable on exit. We had two versions of the earlier Huggers cars there to serve as a baseline and the H6 was the best handling car there, perhaps the best I have ever driven. You can put it anywhere on the track!" ....Roy Anderson.
The dimensions of the car are 11.0 " wheelbase with 8.750" front and rear track width with Custom Works rims mounted. Great Results first time out! The H6 finished 3rd in the EDM A main at the Midwest Nationals February 8, 2009 at Teas Hobby and Raceway! Congratulations to driver Gary Peacock and his fine effort. Gary finished in third place in the Saturday night Shootout to put him 3rd on the staring grid for the A main on Sunday. He drove a great race and finished 3rd.
